WebbEh, I'd be hesitant to say that they cannot teach any mistakes as doctrine (though I suppose that this is entirely dependent on one's definition of "doctrine"), I'm more inclined to believe that they will never purposefully lead us astray. IIRC there are a bunch of teachings in Bruce R. McConkie's "Mormon Doctrine" that had to be redacted. WebbSo obviously that church leader's cannot lead us astray goes back to Wilford Woodruff's comments in General Conference of 1890, which is published with Official Declaration 1: The Lord will never permit me or any other man who stands as President of this Church to lead you astray. It is not in the programme. It is not in the mind of God.
